Homebush State School has begun a Used Lead Acid Battery recycling programme. This programme collects old lead acid batteries which are placed in lockable lidded crates which we pick up for recycling through an approved recycling centre. Whilst doing this, the school is also raising much needed funds for various projects in the school community. If you live in the Homebush / Mackay area, please contact the school to find out the hours that you can drop your old batteries in.

It is with great pleasure that we now collect all ULAB’s from the Mackay Regional Council Landfill sites. Residents of Mackay and its surrounds can now be certain that their old lead acid batteries will be recycled correctly, so please take your old batteries into your local landfill site and place them in the recycling crate provided.

Residents in Mackay Regional Council can now drop their old automotive batteries off to the Council’s transfer stations and know that they will be stored awaiting recycling in a responsible manner. Currently the transfer sites at Bloomsbury, Kuttabul, Kolijo, Otterburn and Seaforth have our crates, with Eungella, Gargett and Koumala coming on line on Monday 11th August, 2014.

WBC Battery Recyclers congratulates Prospect Creek State School on its incredible success in collecting ULAB’s to raise needed funds for projects around the school.

In just 2 months, the school has collected over 6 tonnes of ULAB’s, with another 4-5 tonnes awaiting collection.
